While managing people and resources, guiding strategy and implementation, confronting disagreement, and diffusing conflict, leaders develop coping mechanisms and assert boundaries that help them navigate the tumultuous terrain. However, they may inadvertently neglect asserting internal boundaries to minimize the mental and emotional strains that come with this work.
